DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On behalf of the Marion County Utilities Department (MCU), Procurement advertised a bid for the installation of Pump No. 4 at the Marion Oaks Water Treatment Plant (WTP) No. 6. The contractor will be responsible for providing one (1) Peerless Model 5AE14 horizontal split case high service pump/motor combination with a metal base. In addition, the contractor shall provide a 60 Horsepower, 480 Volts, three (3) Phase, outside use electric motor to be controlled via a Variable Frequence Drive (VFD) as well as one (1) 480 Volt, three (3) Phase VFD unit for the open pedestal slot that is in the Marion Oaks WTP No. 6 electrical room. The contractor will also be responsible for furnishing all labor, materials, supplies, licensing, permitting and all other components that are necessary to provide a complete turn-key replacement of Pump No. 4. This work at Marion Oaks WTP No. 6 is necessary so the plant can be re-rated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), and to meet the demands from the growing population in the surrounding Marion Oaks area. Procurement received four (4) responsive bids. MCU Director, Jody Kirkman, requests to contract with the lowest bidder based on the tabulation below:

Attached for review is a draft contract. Pending approval at today’s meeting, it will be sent to the vendor and upon return, will be forwarded for signatures from Legal, the Clerk and Chair.

Neutral; project cost is $282,105. Funding for this project is from line ZF448536-563102 (Marion County Utility Fund) with Project Code UTC000136.

Motion to approve recommendation and allow staff to issue contract, and upon approval by Legal, authorize the Chair and Clerk to execute the contract with Sawcross, Inc. under 24B-266.
