DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
On July 9, 2024, the County Attorney’s Office received a request from Juleon Akana for a release or reduction of his Civil Restitution Liens, totaling $24,711.60, with $15,000.00 in judgments and $9,711.60 in interest.
On March 30, 2011, Mr. Akana was arrested for Possession of Cannabis less than 20 grams (First Degree Misdemeanor) in Case No. 11-MM-2675. On May 9, 2011, he was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 90 days in jail. The Court imposed a Judgment of Cost of incarceration of $4,500.00 (sentence 90 days x $50 per day). He served 76 days, of which he was an Inmate Worker for 62 days. He has paid all other court costs and fines in this case.
On October 31, 2011, he was arrested for Retail Petit Theft (Prior Offense) (First Degree Misdemeanor) in Case No. 11-MM-8712. On May 1, 2012, he was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 60 days in jail. The Court imposed a Judgment of Cost of incarceration of $3,000.00 (sentence 60 days x $50 per day). He served 55 days, of which he was an Inmate Worker for 45 days. He has paid all other court costs and fines in this case.
On October 7, 2012, he was arrested for Violation of Probation in Case No. 11-MM-8712.
On November 2, 2012, he was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 120 days in jail. The Court imposed a Judgment of Cost of incarceration of $6,000.00 (sentence 120 days x $50 per day). He served 48 days, of which he was an Inmate Worker for 43 days. He has paid all other court costs and fines in this case.
On February 6, 2015, he was arrested for Resisting or Obstructing Officer without Violence (First Degree Misdemeanor) in Case No. 15-MM-918. On March 4, 2015, he was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 30 days in jail. The Court imposed a Judgment of Cost of incarceration of $1,500 (sentence 30 days x $50 per day). He served 29 days in jail, of which he was not an Inmate Worker. He is currently in a payment plan for other court costs and fines in this case.
For all of these cases, Mr. Akana was sentenced to a total of 300 days. He served 208 days in jail, of which he served 150 days as an inmate worker. Therefore, he was in jail for 58 days where he was not an inmate worker.
