DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
The Office of the County Engineer recommends the following speed limit changes along east Hwy 318 in response to citizen requests and a review of roadway conditions and speed data:
• 5305 E Hwy 318 to 3623 E Hwy 318: increase from 45 mph to 55 mph.
• 3623 E Hwy 318 to 2615 E Hwy 318: increase from 35 mph to 45 mph.
• 2615 E Hwy 318 to 1853 E Hwy 318: establish a 35 mph speed zone.
• 1853 E Hwy 318 to 990 E Hwy 318: establish a 45 mph speed zone.
These changes are consistent with Section 316.189, Florida Statutes, which authorizes the Board of County Commissioners to establish speed limits based on an engineering investigation.
