DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Several operational and budgetary factors have created the need for additional funding within the Utilities Management Organization. First, an unexpected increase in inspections associated with capital projects has resulted in overtime expenditures exceeding the amount originally budgeted. Second, the upgrade of internet services to fiber at utility plant facilities generated unplanned communication service expenses, resulting in insufficient funds within the Communications Services budget. Third, recent increases in first-class postage rates have increased the cost of mailing customer invoices, creating a need for additional funding for postage. Finally, due to vacancies in Administrative Staff Assistant positions, the utility has relied on contract personnel to maintain operations, resulting in expenditures that were higher than budgeted for contract services.
