DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Land Development Code section 6.14.2, developers (property owners) are required to connect to public utilities if the property is within connection distance. For a single-family residence, the connection distance is 400 feet from the parcel’s closest corner to the public water main. In this case, the property owner is required to connect to the public water main provided by Marion County Utilities (MCU), which results in installing 196 feet of water main across the parcel’s frontage. MCU’s $700 fee covers only the design of the water main extension, as the property owner selected to use their own underground utility contractor. The project will service a total of three (3) parcels along the route.
