DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
The Medical Examiner's Advisory Committee recently approved to move into a contract with MDILog, a new software vendor to replace the current program for case management and invoicing for cremations, etc. Upon doing so, there will be a time period for which the current program, VertiQ, and MDILog will need to co-exist while the Medical Examiner's staff and the Information Technology Department work to extract the case files to the new database. Funds are being moved from Capital Improvement Funding to Computer Software to accommodate the duplicity for software until the files are migrated and tested for accuracy. There are funds in Capital Improvement Funding to cover this need. The Fiscal Year 2028 budget will budget the MDILog cost, with the assumption that this software should be the only one operational starting October 1, 2027. This will also ensure the county cost share amounts are not unduly inflated for the committee members.
