DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
As an entitlement community, Marion County receives grant funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that includes Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership (HOME), and County Emergency Solutions Grant (HESG) program. The HESG program helps prevent homelessness and supports emergency housing services.
On September 17, 2024, Marion County entered into a subrecipient agreement with Catholic Charities of Central Florida, Inc. d/b/a Blessed Trinity Catholic Church Brother’s Keeper, awarding $62,695.13 under the HESG program. A proposed First Amendment will add $76,665 in additional funds, increasing the total award to $139,360.13 to be expended by September 15, 2025. This funding will support the continued emergency housing services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. The agency will continue to provide a match and plans to assist approximately 90 families.

Motion to approve and authorize the Chairman and Clerk to execute all necessary documents associated with this First Amendment between Marion County and Brother’s Keeper.
