DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
According to F.S. 420.907-9079 and Chapter 67-37 of the Florida Administrative Code, Marion County is required to submit a Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) to Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC) every three (3) years in order to receive State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) funding. The LHAP identifies affordable housing strategies that may be implemented with Marion County’s SHIP funds.
On April 16, 2019, the Board approved the 2019-2022 LHAP. Marion County needed to revise a strategy listed in the LHAP, Owner Occupied Rehabilitation/Demolition-Reconstruction, to assist homeowners whose homes have been determined by a licensed official (i.e., fire marshal, engineer, building official, etc.) to be beyond repair or unsafe for habitation with a replacement home. The technical revision was approved and accepted by FHFC on May 6, 2022.
