Office of the County Engineer |
DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Following Hurricane Irma, the County was partially approved for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding for flood mitigation relief of SW 52nd Street and surrounding subdivisions (HMGP project number 4337-358-R). The agreement for the project was approved and signed by the Board on March 24, 2020 (Agenda Item 7H25). The grant agreement was executed by the State on June 22, 2020. The Board awarded the design of the project to Kimley-Horn on March 16, 2021 following selection by the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) Selection Committee.
This modification extends the agreement expiration date and provides additional funding. Staff requested the time extensions due to extended turnaround times associated with the pandemic and the need for more detailed engineering models; the additional modeling necessitated a budget increase, realizing, once the project began, actual field conditions were surveyed, and the project needs were better understood.
The original agreement deadline was March 31, 2021; the new agreement deadline is September 30, 2021. The original agreement budget was $101,640 (Federal Grant $76,230; County Share $25,410); the new agreement budget is $201,633 (Federal Grant $151,224.75; County Share $50,408.25).
