Body

INITIATOR:

DEPARTMENT:

Amanda Tart, Director

Human Resources

DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:

Currently the Office of the County Engineer has one (1) employee fabricating signs from basic materials (colored film, sign backing, etc.) in their Sign Shop. The fabrication process has evolved over the years from cutting printed letters/numbers to a more computer based graphics system, which has improved efficiencies and increased complexities of the fabrication process. The Office of the County Engineer maintains approximately 90,000 signs across Marion County; therefore, there is a continual need to provide maintenance of the existing network and keep up with additions to the same.

Providing this reclassification allows staff to take advantage of the increased efficiencies provided from the computer based graphics system.

BUDGET/IMPACT:

Expenditure of $8,306 in the Transportation Maintenance Fund (BL400541)

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Recommended action

Motion to approve the reclassification of one (1) Traffic Maintenance Technician, pay grade 8-11 to one (1) Traffic Sign Shop Technician, pay grade 16 within the Office of the County Engineer.
