DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Due to the growth in construction of new homes, the number of water connections during FY 2023-24 is significantly higher than was budgeted. The majority of these connections have been paid in advance by the developers. Many of these developers reach agreements with Marion County to have the costs of the line extensions reimbursed upon connection with Marion County Utilities, as the homeowner pays the connection fee. These pro-rata reimbursements have been much higher in FY 2023-24 than anticipated, and are requiring additional funds for the reimbursement expense account. This request is to increase the revenue line associated with these connections, as well as to increase the available funds for the reimbursement expense. This is a one-time request.
BUDGET/IMPACT:
Increase Marion County Utility Fund appropriation by $750,000.
