DESCRIPTION/BACKGROUND:
Marion County Utilities (MCU) owns and operates the Dunnellon Airport Water Treatment Plant which is critical infrastructure utilized by the department to provide and maintain potable water and fire protection to the water distribution for this service area.
At the beginning of December 2023, the stationary backup generator located at this site failed and is no longer in service. MCU requires a replacement generator at the site to assure continued operation at all times. However, this purchase was not in the FY2024 budget for the Water Cost Center (442), and staff has obtained permission from the County Administrator to purchase the new generator out of cycle. Due to this request for the capital purchase, it is noted that there are capital funds available in the Wastewater Cost Center (445) to fund this purchase. This request is to move funds from Wastewater to the Water Cost Center. This is a one-time request.
